China's "Sailing Day" in July

　　Zhoushan,which accounts for 10%of the country's seafarers,will usher in the seventh China's"Sailing Day"on July 11.In March this year,Zhoushan has just been listed as China's Fourth New District,Zhoushan archipelago new area,after Pudong of Shanghai,Binhai of Tianjin and Liangjiang of Chongqing.

　　On the morning of May 7,the Organizing Committee of China Maritime Day and Zhoushan Municipal government announced the news at a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council.The theme of the event is"to promote the sea and protect the sea,and to travel around the world".

　　China Navigation day is a national legal activity day led by the government and participated by the whole people.It was established with the approval of the State Council in 2005.The date was July 11,the decision-making day of Zheng He's voyages to the West in the Ming Dynasty.It is not only a common festival for all the related industries,such as navigation,ocean,fishery,shipbuilding industry,maritime scientific research and education,but also a national cultural activity to publicize and popularize maritime and marine knowledge,enhance coastal defense awareness,and promote social harmony and unity.Prior to that,in addition to the previous one held in Quanzhou,Fujian Province,China has held five Maritime Day celebrations in Beijing,Shanghai,Qingdao,Shandong,Taicang,and Dalian,Liaoning Province.

　　Zhoushan has a long history of navigation.At present,there are more than 50000 seafarers in Zhoushan City,accounting for 10%of the total number of seafarers in China and 60%of the seafarers in our province.In 2010,Zhoushan achieved a GDP of 63.345 billion yuan.During the 11th Five Year Plan period,the annual average growth rate ranked first in the province.The total output of marine economy reached 1436 billion yuan,of which 43.1 billion yuan was added value of marine economy.The added value of marine economy accounted for 68%of regional GDP.Zhoushan has become the city with the highest proportion of marine economy and the city with the most marine industry characteristics.

　　Zhou Guohui,mayor of Zhoushan City,introduced the situation of Zhoushan to the press in Beijing.He said that in March 2011,"Zhoushan archipelago New Area"was included in the national"Twelfth Five Year Plan"development plan,becoming the Fourth New Area approved by China and the only new area characterized by comprehensive development of marine islands.The holding of the"navigation day"is not only the need of improving the coastal development plan and implementing the marine development strategy,but also the need to safeguard the national maritime rights and interests.It is also a major decision made by the state from a strategic height.This is just in line with the main theme of"promoting the sea and protecting the sea"in this navigation day.Holding the main venue of the navigation day in Zhoushan will further strengthen Zhoushan and accelerate the construction of Zhoushan Confidence in the new islands area.

　　Zhou Guohui,mayor of Zhoushan,explained that the theme of"maritime day"is to revitalize the marine economy and develop maritime culture,which is in line with the national strategic plan of developing marine economy and strengthening the construction of maritime culture;"protecting the sea"means protecting the safety of marine channels and protecting the marine environment.The purpose of this sailing day is to revitalize the marine economy and develop maritime culture,and combine with Zhoushan's characteristics of"building a city by island".

　　It is reported that the main venue activities of this year's maritime day will focus on three features:first,hold rich sea related activities to practice the development of marine economy and interpret the theme of"revitalizing the sea"in the theme of this year's maritime day;second,by organizing activities with"safety"as the main element,it will interpret the theme of"protecting the sea"in the theme of maritime day and echo the theme of this year's world maritime day;The theme of the"sailing in Zhoushan"is to witness the diversity of cultural activities in Zhoushan.

　　The main venue of the navigation day will be held in Xincheng gymnasium on the morning of July 11.Before and after July 11,special activities such as Zhenghe and navigation International Forum and navigation technology exhibition,aquatic resources protection zone publicity activities and fishery resources value-added release,ship opening day,Chinese seafarers skills competition,Zhoushan Islands China Marine Culture Festival and other special activities will be held At the same time,Zhoushan City will also hold a number of supporting activities.
